| Performance is different than the data leads you to believe with how the big bad wolf of corrosion will set in. Been running e85 for years, ran it on Nismo 740's, sard 850's, and my buddy runs in on ID2200's for a daily driver @ 18-20psi for Monday-Friday duty.
Both of our cars have sat for days, weeks, and even months with full and low tanks of e85. Zero sticking issues..though possible to stick I'm sure, I believe some other factors are at play in his case. Sticky injectors after a week of garage sitting is a big overkill disclaimer from ID. Never experienced injector issues related to e85 in over 5 years of use,etc.. The 15% pump has provided all the lube needed on both stock fuel rails,o rings, etc.. as well as on a custom billet rail setup. Its only recently that the z seen is catching up to this fuel for big time tuning to realize the true gains. Most idiots on here spend more time discussing the stupid government aspect of the fuel blah blah.. Makes me wonder what his ethanol content was during the time it stuck, and how long he may have had the fuel sitting. For the record, after 6 months of my own Z sitting at one point with a belly full of e85, she still started up perfectly fine in 42° Houston's version of winter weather last year... Motor came out after 4000+ miles of break-in for some additional mods to go in, amd all of my internals were as clean as I have ever seen compared to regular pump. Moral of the story is, e85 is about as dangerous to your Z and internal corrosion , stickiness, etc etc as pump in MOST cases... id even venture to say that injector had preexisting issues, and the dyno time just happen to coincide. E85 is safe folks, dont believe the hype of the masses, take the time out to try it yourself. Doesnt take a full time tuner to cosign it to make it magically good or bad just cause he or she says so... Plenty of local cars run it here in Texas daily and the main complaint is usually the drop in gas mileage for 1st timers,BUT its quickly forgotten on a 97+° day when the alcohol makes your Z's intake charge feel like a cool 60° day with the before and after seat of the pants feel. Just sayin... good info for e85 newbies none the less Brett. Just clarifying from 1st hand experience that though the fuel may degrade faster than pump, its not some life altering disaster waiting to happen to your motor due to this fuel. After 6 monthz sitting, my wide bands still read all the normal afr values through all my gears.. If some water developed in my e85 I certainly couldnt feel any measurable difference by my seat of the pants... inside my tank has never looked so clean though :)... that stuff CLEANS very well. One guy used e85 for a day for the 1st time amd had fueling issues the next day. Turned out that e85 cleaned his tank amd lines so well, his previously new fuel filter had clogged up with free'd up gunk from years of pump 93. (I'm PRO-corn obviously... biased opinion? Absolutely:) Cheers all!
